My mom arrived in Ruidoso, New Mexico in 1947 as a single parent with four small children. We came via Greyhound bus with less than thirty dollars and this was before Welfare and Food Stamps. Three of the children eventually acquired college degrees.

I attended elementary school in Green Tree (now the City of Ruidoso Downs). My high school education was at Ruidoso High School and graduated in 1954. I was captain of the football team my senior year.

The universities I attended were Western New Mexico University and Eastern New Mexico University. I received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Education from ENMU.

Professionally I was a teacher and coach at Ruidoso High School at Ruidoso High School and Robert Goddard High School in Roswell, New Mexico. My last eleven years in public education was in the position of high school Assistant Principle and Athletic Director at Goddard High.

After thirty years with the New Mexico schools I retired and moved from Roswell back to Lincoln County and Ruidoso Downs. Since my returning to Ruidoso Downs I previously served in city government as an Alternate Municipal Judge and currently as a City Councilor.
