How Do I Proceed?

How do I donate an item to the Museum’s collection?

Please fill out the form on the next page for our Collections Committee. Each item is carefully reviewed by our Collections Committee using the following criteria before accepting a donation for the collection:

  • Does the object conform to our mission statement?
  • Does this object enhance our research, education programs and exhibitions?
  • Are the items in good condition? The Museum has limited resources for repairs or to conserve new items coming into the collection.
  • Are there similar items in the collection?
  • Do you, the donor, have full ownership of this object?

This ensures the care that the objects deserve in terms of preservation, exhibition and storage. The Collections Curator will contact you on whether or not the items have been selected for the permanent collection.

Items that do not meet our criteria for the permanent collection may be accepted for our Education Collection. These are items that will be “loved to death” by our audiences that are invited to handle education materials. Please contact Education Curator, Patsy Jackson 575-378-4142 ext. 235 or patsy@hubbardmuseum.org to donate items to our education collection.
